The Streatham Storm started in 1996 as a new women’s team playing out of the Streatham rink, and following on the tradition of the Streatham Felines and Strikers that had been playing in Streatham since the 1950s. After a season of training, the team played its first game against Chelmsford in October 1997.

After years of hard work the team won D1 South and was promoted to play in the Premier league at the end of the 2004/ 2005 season. A second team that was to continue competing in Division 1 was started, and the Streatham Storm Club was born.

Four seasons later in 2008 the club expanded again into its current form, as the Blizzard Under 16s team was born.
